I pretty much agree with you on this one, Daniel. Disheartening, isn't it?  Still, it was nice to see you there and to meet David and Arlan. I dashed off to find my buddy, Eric before the march got under way.

While the only sign of respect I saw in the planning of the march was that the route was sited far from religious neighborhoods, there is, nevertheless, a huge difference between the use of violence and deadly force on the part of some segments of the observant community (including the protestor who showed up with a home-made bomb!) and the Queer community which marched peacefully with a sign of Mohandas Gandhi. Iran is a theocracy. Sudan is a theocracy. Give me a pluralistic democracy over a theocracy any day!

Despite my ambivalence, I finally decided to march because of that violence, and because of the remarks of the Shas MK Nissim Ze'ev who, on the afternoon of the march, suggested that the Israeli government create rehabilitation camps for Queers.
